Playhead Platformer (Prototype)
Controls:
- WASD/Arrow keys to move
- Space/Z to jump
- R to respawn 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to go to Levels 1-5
- Mouse: drag and drop platforms in Levels 3-5
Win by reaching the star! (star downloaded from web)
You are allowed to move the platforms in Levels 3-5
Rules for moving platforms (not currently enforced):
- You are not supposed to move platforms while platforming (press R before moving platforms)
- Platforms cannot overlap or have portions of them offscreen and cannot block the spawn circle
- Ideally platforms should snap to a grid (with small increments) but this is not implemented yet
Wanted to add adaptive music to play over platforms like a DAW
This is left in an unfinished prototype state because the level design felt too constrained (worked on a different game instead):
Potential improvements:
- Camera should be zoomed out more, larger platforming sections and less emphasis on specific puzzle maneuvers
- Spikes, moving platforms, tempo up/down sections could give new ideas
- Screen is too wide, line moves too slowly/too fast
- Player should also loop/portal at screen edges (this removes the difficult right-to-left jump and need for long platforms but I am relying on this as the challenge in the levels)
- Platformer controller needs more tuning (floaty jump up with faster fall)
- Currently using Corgi Platformer controller asset
